ONLINE TRANSACTION SECURITY SYNOPIS
Federal financial regulators are concerned that fraudsters are using more complex and malicious techniques to circumvent existing authentication controls, gain control of customer accounts, and transfer funds.
Regulation E provides consumers with some protections for electronic fund transfers and usually applies to accounts with internet access. It establishes limits for the consumer’s liability for unauthorized electronic fund transfers. There are specific procedures you need to take to help resolve an error with your account and you will need to take action in a timely manner. Please notify us immediately if you believe your access information has been stolen or compromised. Please review the activity on your account and periodic statement promptly and contact us if you find any errors or unauthorized transactions. Our Electronic Fund Transfer disclosures have more information on these types of protections. They were provided at account opening or can be provided upon request.
We would like you to know the following to help ensure the security of your online transactions:
1. We will never email, call or otherwise ask you for your user name, password or other electronic banking credentials.
2. You may consider implementing alternative risk control mechanisms to mitigate your risk such as:
a. Choosing a user name and password that mixes small case letters, upper case letters and numbers;
b. Changing your password often;
c. Protecting your user name and password information;
d. Ensuring you have a firewall in place when making financial transactions;
e. Reviewing your account activity regularly; and
f. Logging off the system when you have completed your transactions.
3. Commercial online banking customers should perform a related risk assessment and controls evaluation periodically.
If you notice suspicious account activity or experience customer information security-related events, please contact us by calling your local banking center or by calling 903-984-8671.
