Citizens Bank has changed the style of its debit cards for consumers, according to senior management of the bank. The old style featued an orange and yellow design, while the new design, pictured above, depicts the flag of Texas. Since all of the Citizens Bank locations are in the Lone Star State, bank officials thought it would be a nice thing to brag on our state flag while at the same time depicting our blue and flag red logo.

USING YOUR DEBIT CARD SAVES TIME AND MONEY

Consumer advocates are reporting that today's consumer is using a debit card more and more to make purchases and writing less checks.

The consumer groups say debit card usage is continually rising and not only among younger banking customers. Those banking customers in their forties or early fifties are also starting to use debit cards more so they will not have to carry check books and/or pay for checks. Also a lot of people are now using BillPay products to pay their bills or they are having them drafted from their accounts by other means so they do not have to write checks.

This news is not foreign to Citizens Bank management. Bank officials have seen debit card usage continually rising for approximately 18 months now, and program monitors are watching over different aspects of the debit card services so they can give customers the best possible experience when they choose to use their card.

Using a debit card saves time from writing checks and also allows the customer to not have to carry a check book. Also, the customer can keep receipts from transactions and continually have an accurate balance on their checking account. Or, they can use Citizens Bank's on-line banking program to monitor their balance up to the minute. CITIZENS BANK OPTS OUT OF FDIC TRANSACTION ACCOUNT GUARANTEE PROGRAM

Citizens Bank has chosen not to participate in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Customers of Citizens Bank with noninterest-bearing transaction accounts will continue to be insured through December 31, 2013 for up to $250,000 under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
